Mushrooms and corrosion

There are only two weeks left to start the Christmas holidays. I already want to return to Menorca to be with my family and my friends. These days I can spend free time to do sport or go to look for mushrooms with Guillem. We went together to look for mushrooms and we found enough. Here you can see the mushrooms we took in just over an hour. We cannot say where we went to look for them, it’s a secret.
In workshop practices at Globalia we have started module 6 again. This module studies the materials and hardware used in an airplane. We have started practices that are related to corrosion, material protection and painting. To avoid the appearance of corrosion we must inspect the airplane structure daily. Here you can see annotations of a visual inspection carried out in the turbocommander 680V
In case of finding any corrosion point, we must eliminate it and protect the material. Aircraft structures oxidize very easily and very quickly. We have to take great care, so that the airplanes fly many years.
In the theory classes we have started a new sub module of module 11 of systems. This sub-module talks about the ATA 32 (landing gear). Our instructor has told us, just start, that we forget everything learned in cars or other vehicles, since the tires and the landing gear are very different.

A visit to the hangar and other places to eat

This weekend my couple and I went to eat at a buffet at the Son Pardo racecourse. It is right next to the son pacs institute. It is a buffet where we can find typical Mallorcan dishes, such as “ tumbet” which are sliced vegetables such as aubergine, potato and green pepper, with tomato sauce. We also found "trampo", which is a salad of tomatoes, onions and green and red peppers, cut into very small squares. Most of the dishes in the buffet are good, I recommend the site to people who like buffets. Also this weekend I made a cheesecake with jam that was great. My partner and I like to have something sweet to eat after lunch. Right now, while I am writing the blog, I am preparing donuts, typical of this time of year. Next week I will upload photos of how the donuts have been. This week at Globalia we have continued with the hydraulic systems of the plane with Jose Miguel. In the workshop, Pere and I have finished assembling the turbochargers, we have stopped all the sc...

Questions about Rolls Royce's jet engine

Here I post all the questions I solved in the Rolls Royce's web page:  1-Why are turbine blades coated with a ceramic material? A)It makes them lighter  B)It helps make them stronger  C)It helps to stop them melting- D)It makes them a better colour 2-Why can’t titanium be used to make turbine blades? A)In temperatures over 600潞C where it rubs against other metals, it can burn- B)It is too dense and would be too heavy to use C)It is the wrong colour D)It is too expensive 3-Drag and drop the densities to the correct material: Titanium 6/4: 4.5g/cm3 Nickel alloy 8.2g/cm3 Partially yttrium stabilized zirconia: 5.1g/cm3 Nickel super alloy: 8.4g/cm3 4-What are the two main things engineers must consider when choosing materials to use in an engine? A)Colour and weight B)Cost and colour C)Weight and name  D)Cost and weight - 5-Which statement is true? A)To active the same amount of thrust you can either accelerate a Sma...

Car racing in the puig major and a hidden skydrol tank

This last weekend I went on an excursion to the Puig major, since this weekend there was a car race. Taking advantage of this event, the night before the race, I slept near to the village of S贸ller, a small village located between mountains. S贸ller seems to me a spectacular village since it is surrounded by mountains and with a special color in its houses. In addition, it has a small railway that reaches the port of S贸ller. I camped near the road for the next morning to see the race from there. What impressed me most, is to see the sunrise from the mountain, with the town of S贸ller just below. It was a full day that helped me to disconnect from the module 7 exam. Day 9 was my birthday and I brought cookies and croissants to class for my classmates. Upon arriving home, my partner had prepared a cake with 23 candles. The next weekend is her birthday and I will prepare some surprise ...  In theory class we have started the airplane's pneumatic system, but in practic...
